There's a new fundraising goal for the old Empress theater in NDG which closed more than 20 years ago because of a fire.
All attempts to restore it since have failed.
The goal is now nearly $10 million down from $12 million.
"What we're doing now is with our new, revised architectural plans and a revised budget, we're now discussing with the city understanding full well that we no longer have exclusivity on the project. I think the city and our group see that the effort that's been put into this project for the last few years is definitely worth puting forward", said Kim Fuller with the Empress Theatre Foundation.
The theater would host more than just movies.
It would house restaurants, cafes, other activities, rental space and would stage an art exhibit, according to Fuller.
She added the foundation is looking to the community to help reach the fundraising goal.
