South Shore residents anxious to take the New Champlain Bridge into work will be happy to know it's expected to open on June 3.
However those residents won't be able to take it back home until June 17.
The St. Lawrence Signature Consortium will use the remaining time to finalize the structure's waterproofing, paving the actual roadway, installing two pairs of cables on the South Shore side and connecting it to the existing roadway. Should something go wrong during any of the final phases the early June opening could be pushed back.
The Bridge was originally scheduled to open in December 2018, but was postponed six months after costly errors forced several delays.
The Federal government has maintained since the delay last year, the new Champlain Bridge will be open by the end of June.
