Montrealers flying to the U.S. will soon have options besides just Dorval's Trudeau Airport.
Low-cost carrier Jetlines has announced it plans to launch "several" U.S. bound flights from the St. Hubert Airport on the south shore.
CEO Javier Suarez said in an interview with La Presse that the new services will "limit the exodus of Canadians crossing the border to airports such as Plattsburgh and Burlington to fly."
Jetlines is aiming to commence nationwide operations this summer, and will also operate out of Quebec City's Jean-Lesage International Airport. The airlines has not yet announced which destinations it will serve, but Florida will be among them starting next winter.
The airline currently owns two Airbus A320s, and it's not clear if the airline plans to expand their fleet before launching operations.
However, Jetlines departures from Montreal's secondary airport likely will not begin until the end of 2020. Airport officials say that a new terminal to accomodate commercial passengers still needs to be constructed.
