The city of Montreal is erasing the name of Guido Nincheri from an east-end park.
Nincheri is referred to as Montreal's Michelangelo.
His stained glass in Saint-Leon-de-Westmount church is considered one of his Montreal masterpieces.
The church was designated a national historic site by Parks Canada because it houses Nincheri's work.
Notre-Dame-de -la-Defense church in Little Italy is also a national historic site for the same reason.
Nincheri arrived in Montreal in 1914 after studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.
The re-designed space near Olympic Stadium combines parks named for Nincheri and self-taught botanist Brother Marie-Victorin under the new name Quebec City Park.
The change is part of 375th anniversary preparations.
Ironically, Nincheri was designated a builder of Montreal during the city's 350th anniversary celebrations in 1992.
The park losing his name is located near the studio where Nincheri produced his stained-glass windows.
