Two men who went out for a jog in Longueuil on Sunday are warning others, watch where you step, something sinister may be hiding out there.
Sébastien Servant and Vincent Lepage were out for a run on the bike path near Marie-Victorin park at about 9:00 A.M. They were only about ten minutes into their workout when they came across a pile of leaves in the middle of the path.
As Lepage ran through the leaves he noticed a sharp pain his foot.
The pair looked back and to their surprise uncovered a long piece of wood with about 20 nails sticking out of it. A second plank full of nails was found nearby just off the path.
In a Facebook post on the Club de Course CCC Facebook page, Servant said he filed a complaint with Longueuil police.
The department said it dispatched officers and cadets to the path to look for other potential dangers, and regularly has officers patrolling bike paths during the summer months.
A spokesperson said to date it's the only case of its kind reported to police and with a construction site nearby there is nothing that has led investigators to believe the wood had been placed there deliberately.
Still, the joggers want anyone who uses the park to be on alert, because this time it was just a prick on the bottom of a foot but if it were to happen again it could be worse.
