It is a disappearance that has haunted a Saguenay famly for nine years now.
David Fortin was 14 when he vanished from Alma on February 10, 2009.
Pina Arcamone said the Missing Children's Network has supported Fortin's family ever since he disappeared that day when Fortin had asked his mother for a ride to school but she was unable to.
"She remembers kissing her son, it was about 7:15 in the morning. He walked to the bus stop but we know he never boarded the bus, he never reported to school," said Arcamone.
"Nine long and sad years later, we still do not know what happened to this young boy."
Arcamone said hundreds of tips to police and reported sightings have led nowhere. Police also issued composite sketches of what Fortin would look like years later - Fortin's 24th birthday is this June.
"The mom was just telling me, 'Pina, I never thought I'd be waiting nine years to get news from my son,' and she says, 'I really hope this is the year.' "
Arcamone said Fortin's mother has posted another letter to her son online- one for each passing year - saying how she misses and thinks of him all the time.
"And that no matter what has happened to him, she hopes that he has found peace and she wants him to know that she will always love him."
Arcamone said his mother still holds out hope he'll be found one day, boosted by community efforts to help in the search.
"That is our role," said Arcamone.
"To make sure these children are never forgotten."
