Some municipalities are gearing up for possible flooding as a lot of rain is coming our way.
So far around 50 Dorval residents have responded to the city's advisory about free sandbags and other measures being taken.
Dorval mayor Edgar Rouleau said they're not taking any chances this year - stocking up with 800 sandbags, three hundred more than were given out last year.
"Having gone through the spring of last year, we know where the risky residents are because they're the ones who really had flooding last year so they're our priority," said Rouleau in an interview with CJAD 800 News.
"As the rain is going to start, we'll be ready to deliver."
After those homes, Rouleau said they'll analyze everyone else on a case by case basis.
"First thing, you have to watch your backyards because water could accumulate there because we had lots of snow," said Rouleau.
Rouleau said they're also inspecting various neighbourhoods and closely monitoring storm sewers.
"They've been working on making sure the manhole covers are open so water will be able to get in," said Rouleau.
Chateauguay is monitoring the river and has asked the Coast Guard to borrow a hovercraft to break up the ice.
Rigaud said they're also keeping an eye on the situation but are not as concerned because of the thick ice on nearby rivers, with the running off of melting snow reaching its peak over the next three days.
