Flood waters in the Outaouais claimed the life of a female motorist early on Saturday morning.
It happened in the municipality of Pontiac, about 40 kilometres west of Ottawa-Gatineau, around 3:30am.
A 20 foot (6.1 metre) high culvert collapsed under the pressure of rising waters.
The Mayor of Pontiac, Joanne Labadie, confirmed the death to local media and police posted an update about the accident on Twitter. The woman's vehicle was on the culvert at the time of the collapse and she perished at the scene.
Authorities have released few details about the victim, saying the night time accident is still under investigation.
