A larger percentage of the candidates for municipal office across the province are women this year.
The provincial Ministry of Municipal Affairs says that over 4,000 women are standing for election in the municipal elections next month.
That represents 31% of all candidates. While that number is far from parity, it's up three points from the 2013 municipal elections, when just 28% of candidates were women. It also represents a larger upward trend -- women made up less than 25% of the candidates running for office in the 2005 elections in this province.
Elections in Quebec's cities and towns will be held on November 5. You have until October 17 to make sure you're on the electoral roll.
