It's been a week since Montreal police set up its special tipline for sexual crimes, and no less than 320 calls have been placed by people wishing to report instances of sexual harassment or assault.
Police say several of those calls have led to investigations being opened.
Police set up the special line — at 514-280-2079 — on Oct. 19 in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal in Hollywood, and word that several Quebecers, including Just for Laughs founder Gilbert Rozon and former Plateau Mont-Royal borough mayor candidate Michel Brulé, have also become the targets of sexual assault and harassment allegations.
The tipline is in service from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.
