You could easily sum up how difficult a time crews working to clear snow in Côte-des-Neiges—N.D.G. have had this year with a common phrase.
When it rains, it pours.
From broken-down trucks to getting stuck in traffic through the Turcot interchange, it has been a rough winter season.
Now as the borough continues to lag behind the rest of Montreal in snow removal a new wrench in the tires has appeared, the dump where trucks were unloading the snow is full.
Officials confirmed to CTV Montreal that the Angrignon snow dump on St. Patrick near the Angrignon Mall in LaSalle is near capacity for the season. The dump was used by several boroughs but is now only open to LaSalle crews.
With the boroughs A option now closed, option B is to truck each load of snow to a dump in Saint-Michel, which adds considerable amounts of time to each trip.
As of 5:00 A.M. Côte-des-Neiges—N.D.G. was reporting 62 per cent of streets and sidewalks were cleared. The city average was 80 per cent while Saint-Leonard and Anjou had completed the job.
Borough mayor Sue Montgomery has been trying to update residents with the latest news on her Facebook page, and even had some fun with it while offering to help those inconvenienced by the snow.
"If there are any elderly or reduced-mobility residents in our borough who need help with clearing their walks, PM me please. Happy to help and get some exercise at the same time!"
