Another key thoroughfare in the Turcot Interchange will close this weekend, and will remain closed until 2019.
The ramp connecting the westbound Ville-Marie Expressway to Highway 15 south — toward the Champlain Bridge — will close for good at midnight Friday night.
The ramp will be demolished, and then rebuilt closer to the ground — along with the rest of the westbound Ville-Marie Expressway.
Meanwhile, the De La Verendrye entrance to the 15 south will also close for two years.
It's all part of what Transport Quebec officials are referring to as the "most disruptive stage" of the long-term Turcot rebuilding project, which is expected to continue through 2020.
In the weeks to come, work to demolish the elevated westbound portion of the Ville-Marie Expressway will begin, while westbound traffic emerging from the Ville-Marie tunnel will be diverted to the lower Route 136.
Also in the coming weeks, several other ramps will be rearranged, and several other major thoroughfares will be shut down, including the St. Jacques St. exit from the westbound Ville-Marie, along with the Fort St. and Lucien L'Allier St. entrances to the Ville-Marie.
Meanwhile, several other southbound ramps will be closed for this coming weekend.
Beginning at 10:30 p.m. Friday, the ramps connecting the Decarie south and Highway 20 east to the 15 south will close for the weekend, to reopen on Monday at 5 a.m.
Also, the Atwater exit from Route 136 will also shut down at midnight on Friday night and reopen in time for the Monday morning rush.
