Tropical Depression Nate slogged his way up the US east coast early today before moving inland.
He hit southeastern Louisiana Saturday evening as a Category 1 and then moved to Mississippi on Sunday.
Fortunately other than high winds, some flooding, knocked down trees, power lines, a fair amount of storm related debris and storm surges - there were no storm related deaths or injuries.
Nate did knock out a lot of power across Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Florida – but most had their power back in 36 hours. Mississippi road crews also had to remove over 1000 pumpkins blown onto Hwy 90 just west of Gulfport.
Today, tropical cyclone statements and Heavy Rainfall Warnings are now cropping up along extreme southeastern sections of Southern Ontario.
The remnants of Hurricane Nate are reacting with a strong upper level low over eastern New York State. This could increase the amount of rain earlier forecast for these regions.
How this affects the CJAD 800 listening area:
Though southern Quebec is not being mentioned yet – with warnings targeting Kingston, Cornwall and Morrisburg – this is generally a corridor that can lead towards Southern Quebec and Montreal. So the 20 to 30mm we are expecting could be upgraded to up to 50 or 60mm of rain.
