A small army of City of Montreal blue collar workers and private contractors will begin a major snow clearing operation at 7 o'clock tonight.
In a statement the city says 13 centimetres of snow fell Thursday.
City officials expect to have 2200 snowplows, dumptrucks and snow blowers working to clear streets and sidewalks.
No parking signs are going up today to ensure streets are accessible and city spokesman Jacques Alain Lavalle says it's best that motorists get their cars out of the way.
About 5000 vehicles are towed in an average snow clearing and snow removal operation.
Crews will take a legal rest break from 7:00 PM Saturday to 7:00 AM Monday.
