A quick moving storm hit southwestern Quebec late Wednesday afternoon, bringing heavy rain and strong winds into the Montreal area and dropping temperatures.
The thunderstorms put an end to the city's dry spell.
There hasn't been any rain in Montreal since September 10.
Hydro Quebec says broken trees and branches fell on power lines cutting electricity to almost 27 thousand customers across the province at the height of the storm.
By 10pm, that number was down to 5600 across Quebec with about 800 affected in Montreal.
The strong wind gusts brought down a tree branch downtown on Alexandre de Seve near Ste. Catherine Street but it caused no damage and city crews quickly dragged the branch off to the side of the street.
