A 31 year old woman is in hospital after she was stabbed in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred as the woman walked along de Grosbois Street near Baldwin at around midnight.
Montreal police say a man came up from behind the woman and held a sharp object to her throat. She screamed and it was then that she was attacked.
The victim was taken to hospital, and was conscious but her condition is not yet known.
The suspect ran away in the southbound direction on Baldwin. The victim told police the suspect is a white French-speaking male in his twenties with a pale complexion and dark hair.
Investigators are at the scene trying to determine what happened.
