After nine days of searching, with the help of 500 volunteers and more than 700 tips there is still no trace of Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou.
The 10-year-old boy was last seen in a park in Ahuntsic-Cartierville on March 12.
His parents believe he was abducted but police are convinced his disappearance is a tragic accident.
The head of the SPVM's communications division, Ian Lafrenière, said there is surveillance video and a credible witness placing the boy in the park, near the waterfront, shortly before he disappeared. He added there is no evidence that tells investigators that Ariel ever left.
Lafrenière said the team overseeing the case took all their information to their provincial counterparts to have them look it over and see if they could find anything they may have missed.
Right now he said investigators believe the boy accidentally fell into the water.
Lafrenière said a Montreal police will co-ordinate efforts with Laval police across the Rivière des Prairies and the Canadian Coast Guard to find the boy.
