In the wake of another fatal fentanyl overdose in Montreal, Montreal's top cop says they'll be cracking down on fentanyl dealers.
Philippe Pichet made the comment after the Journal de Montreal reported a man was found dead last week in a car parked in the lot of an east end motel and that all indications point to another fentanyl overdose.
That happened three weeks after the bodies of two men were found in a car near the Jacques Cartier Bridge on de Maisonneuve. A coroner determined they died of a fentanyl overdose.
Pichet said this issue is a priority for him and that they'll put the pressure on dealers.
"If we need to put some more people (on the case), we will. We will put any resources that we need to get these sailors out of the street," Pichet told reporters.
Montreal police say that over the past six months, six of 31 fatal drug overdoses were linked to fentanyl.
