Mayor Denis Coderre says he is in favour of renaming one of Montreal's streets in honour of Daisy Peterson Sweeney.
Sweeney was a piano teacher who founded the Montreal Black Community Youth Choir, now known as the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir.
She taught famous pianists Oliver Jones and Oscar Peterson, who was her brother.
She died August 11 at the age of 97.
Just spoke to my brother Oliver Jones. I promised him we will make sure there will be a Daisy Peterson Sweeney street in her honour shortly pic.twitter.com/03El7mYJWs
