A hospital worker who was believed to be injured in the escape of a detention centre inmate earlier this month was in on the escape plan, according to Gatineau's Crown attorney.
Hull Detention Centre inmate David Harvey, originally from Montreal, made a break from custody while receiving treatment at a hospital in Gatineau on Dec. 3.
Originally, police said Harvey attacked a female hospital worker, but Gatineau Crown attorney Stéphane Rolland now says the staff member was in on the plan, and pretended to be unconscious to give Harvey a chance to flee.
It remains unclear what charges the hospital employee will face for her alleged part in the escape.
Harvey was recaptured on Thursday in Montreal's St. Laurent borough. He faces a host of charges including assault, robbery, uttering death threats and escaping custody.
