Montreal's executive committee has formally approved the three month delay for owners of pitbull-type dogs to get their paperwork in order for the registration of their pets.
The executive committee voted yesterday to approve the delay that was announced on Monday by a city lawyer at the Montreal courthouse.
Opponents of the pitbull regulation were in court to seek a delay after 520 owners of pitbull-type dogs received city of Montreal notices last month telling them they had to get rid of their dogs in four weeks because of incomplete paperwork.
They now have until December 21 to complete the paperwork.
Pet owners who received the letter - those who made the special permit request before March 31st, 2017 - can send their documents to permis.special@ville.montreal.qc.ca.
