A Montreal doctor has been banned from practicing for 15 months for having sexual relations with three patients, including a minor.
Dr. Roger Hobden, 63, had pleaded guilty to the infractions filed against him by the Quebec College of Physicians. The lawyers had made a common suggestion of 15 months. Hobden was also ordered to pay three thousand dollars in fines. The college's disciplinary committee handed down the decision last Thursday, which is when the suspension takes effect.
One of his victims, a dance student, was 17 at the time in 1997. She filed a complaint in 2012 and that led to a criminal charge. Hobden was sentenced to nine months of house arrest.
The doctor also admitted to having sexual relations with two other patients at the Clinique de médecine familiale de l’Est in 1991 and in 1999.
Hobden is considered a specialist in healthcare in the performing arts community and has been practicing since 1978.
