A bar on the Plateau is getting less than positive reviews — to say the least — for a 67-cent shot promotion it's planning to hold this coming Monday.
The NHL's trade deadline is on Monday at 3 p.m., and the Taverne Saint-Sacrament on Mont-Royal Ave. appears to be betting that Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty will among those on the move.
If the rumored trade goes through, the bar will offer shots at 67 cents — because Pacioretty wears number 67, of course — along with the purchase of a pint of beer at $5.50, for the rest of the night.
"Let's anticipate together the departure of Pacioretty and the coming of a new captain for the Montreal Canadiens," reads the blurb on the Facebook event listing.
But the comments on the Facebook event page are overwhelmingly negative.
"Wow. Good luck with the severe backlash you're gonna get for a truly classless act," wrote Facebook user Mike Hoskins. "This is truly a disgrace and to use pictures of Patches when he got severely hurt and could have had his career ended is lower then low. I sure hope there's a lot of people who avoid your establishment for this (expletive). I've never step foot into your establishment and never will."
The words "losers" and "classless" turned up in several other comments — in both English and French. Some others made reference to one of the photos the bar used — one of Pacioretty laying face-first on the ice after his nearly career-ending check by the Bruins' Zdeno Chara in 2011.
