Up to 70 millimeters of rain is expected to splash down on southern Quebec before Tuesday as an intense low pressure system moving up the American East Coast.
Montreal and the surrounding regions in Mauricie, Lanaudiere and in the Laurentians, are expected to be the hardest hit areas.
North of the city in the Laurentians, the moutainous areas north of the St. Lawrence River could receive rainfall approaching 90 millimeters.

Meteorologists predict it will be an "intense autumn storm" that will cross Quebec on Monday.
Overnight from Sunday into Monday, the storm will generate strong and sometimes violent winds. There will be gusts approaching 90 kilometers per hour mid-day on Monday, extending possibly into the afternoon.
Environment Canada warns that due to the presence of falling leaves, the strong winds will break tree branches and may cause power outages.
Fortunately, Mother Nature should be showing a less tumultuous face on Tuesday night when children will knock on doors for Halloween.
