A Montreal mother said an ombudsman has told her she'll have some news in about two months after a recent visit to the Montreal Children's hospital she says put her child's life in danger.
According to Lianne Watt, her 17-month old daughter waited three hours to be fully triaged after going in with breathing difficulties last Friday.
"I'm hoping something will come out positive," she told CJAD 800 News. "Hopefully, change their procedure, because the main issue was that my daughter's vital signs were never taken, which could have been a great indication of what was happening with her."
She says the child's oxygen saturation levels were dangerously low by the time she was properly assessed.
Watt says she thinks her daughter's vital signs should have been taken much, much sooner, because of her young age and obvious symptoms.
She says she filed the complaint after a doctor told her the youngster should have been seen by a doctor a lot quicker.
"I spoke to the ombudsman on Monday," Watt says, "and they told me...it would take about two months to hear back from them. Basically, they said they would be investigating, but it could take up to two months to get a letter in the mail."
