Montreal businessman Mitch Garber is joining in the search for Jesse Galganov, the 22-year-old Montrealer who went missing in Peru a little over a month ago.
In a Facebook post on Monday, he announced he was donating $100,000 toward the ongoing search efforts.
Galganov left Montreal on Sept. 24 for an eight-month backpacking trip through South America and southeast Asia. Four days into his trip, he was seen checking out of a hostel in the Peruvian town of Huaraz. He hasn't been heard from since.
At the time, he had told his mother, Alisa Clamen, that he would be starting on a 50-kilometre hike through the Cordillera Blanca mountains, and would likely be unreachable for a few days.
Clamen has been in Peru for the last two weeks, doing what she can to find her son.
Garber says his donation is going to the Missing Children's Network's Jesse Galganov fund. You can make a donation by clicking here.
