Big delays and cold weather had kids crying at Quebec City's recent winter carnival parade.
Organizers for Carnaval de Quebec felt the online wrath of disappointed parents and parade-goers, with the criticism focused on lengthy delays, choice of location and a new format where spectators waited at designated "stations'' for the music, theatre and dance troupes to arrive and perform.
Other negative reviews noted that the event's celebrated snowman, Bonhomme, was placed on the first float instead of his usual position at the parade's conclusion.
Carnaval consultant Daniel Gelinas admitted that they are still figuring out the new format and steps are being taken to ensure continuous entertainment.
Mother of three, Anne Thibault, said she left after her oldest started crying, adding that her kids were cold and continually asking why they were left staring at an empty street between acts.
