Goaltender Mike Condon is no longer a member of the Montreal Canadiens.
He was claimed on waivers Monday by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
It appears Condon will become a backup for Marc-André Fleury in Pittsburgh. Their other goalie, Matt Murray, suffered a broken hand during the recently concluded World Cup, and is expected to miss about a month of action.
Condon appeared in 55 games for the Habs last season, including 51 starts, compiling a 21-25-6 record, with a 2.71 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
The move appears to clear the way for Al Montoya to become Carey Price's backup this season.
The Habs begin their regular season Thursday night in Buffalo.
