It's now official.
Martine Ouellet is formally a candidate for the leadership of the Bloc Quebecois.
She has formally submitted the paper work, including the required one thousand signatures from party members in at least 25 ridings and has submitted a $15,000 deposit.
Ouellet is a former PQ MNA who twice ran unsuccessfully to become that party's leader.
She now sits as an independent.
Ouellet made the announcement at the Bloc’s headquarters in east end Montreal.
One other person, Félix Pinel, has expressed an interest in being the Bloc leader.
Pinel, a teacher, ran for the party in 2015 in the Rivière-des-Mille-Île riding.
The Bloc Quebecois will select a new leader in Boucherville on April 22.
