A man in his twenties is lucky to be alive after his car was cut in half by the impact of hitting a utility pole.
It happened in l'Epiphanie in the Lanaudiere region just before 1 o'clock Sunday morning.
The driver lost control of his vehicle in a residential neighborhood before slamming into the pole on rue Onulphe Peltier.
Firefighters used the "jaws of life" to free him from the wreckage.
Police do not fear for his life.
Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
A blood test has been requested by authorities.
