A 30-year-old man is fighting for his life in a Quebec City hospital, after he was pulled from the icy waters of the St. Lawrence River on Monday morning.
Authorities suggest he was on board the Quebec City to Lévis ferry when he fell into the water for an unknown reason at around 9 a.m.
The ferry's passengers alerted crew members, and a rescue boat showed up quickly and brought the man to shore.
He was barely conscious when he was pulled from the water, suffering from severe hypothermia.
Authorities don't know, or aren't saying, how much time he spent in the water.
Crossings between Quebec City and Lévis were canceled until 10:30 a.m., while the emergency intervention went on.
