A 39 year old man has died in hospital after he was stabbed in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough Friday night.
Police were called to Jeanne D'Arc just south of Ste-Catherine at around 10:30. Montreal police spokesman Benoit Boisselle says officers located the victim lying in the street with stab wounds to his upper body.
Police say the dispute may have been over drugs and that the victim was known to them.
The area around where the stabbing took place had been closed to traffic overnight. Ste-Catherine was closed between Bourbonniere and Pie-IX, while Jeanne D'Arc had to be closed between Notre Dame and Ste-Catherine.
The murder is Montreal's 19th of the year.
