The man accused of killing his girlfriend in a Ahuntsic apartment on Tuesday was facing deportation in the coming weeks for another violent crime he committed in 2016.
Ali Mahadi Mahamat was arrested on Tuesday evening when he was found at the apartment where he alledgedly stabbed 24-year-old Naomi Lavoie to death.
In July 2017, he plead guilty to a reduced charge of assault with a weapon and was sentenced to 19 months in prison.
Ali Mahadi Mahamat was still under sentence and on parole, when he allegedly killed his girlfriend.
