A longtime holiday favourite in Quebec won't be around this year.
The makers of Lambert's ice cream logs, Lachine-based Produits Plaisirs Glacés, went out of business last month, putting 60 people out of work.
The logs, made of ice cream, cake and jelly and festooned with plastic Santas and other ornaments, has been a popular holiday treat for more than 60 years.
The treat was off store shelves in 2010, when the company first declared bankruptcy. The company managed to survive, however, and it came back the following year.
This time, however, company president Roger Morin says there will be no comeback — owing to a competitive dessert market, among other things.
