Loto-Quebec will have to pay a total of $102,500 in compensation following a class action suit which alleged the Montreal Casino charged weekend prices for drinks on weekdays.
A Superior Court judge found for lawyer Mustapha Mahmoud, who put forward the suit in 2016. He had visited one of the casino's bars were offering a drink special from Sundays to Thursdays, where drinks were supposed to have been sold at $5.75 a pop. Instead, the regular Friday-Saturday price of $7.25 was being charged.
The money won't be paid out in cash, however — the Casino will instead offer a 30 per cent discount on all food purchases at the Casino's Le Montréal restaurant from now until March 27 — a discount which would only apply between Sunday and Wednesday.
The ruling also states that the 30 per cent discount would be nullified if the restaurant hands out $102,500 in discounts.
