Provincial police have released a composite image of a man described as an important witness in a murder linked to the abduction of a six-year-old boy in St-Eustache on Thursday.
"This man has been seen in Rouyn-Noranda [on] September 15," Surete du Quebec spokesman Claude Denis told CJAD 800 News.
Denis would not say the man was in the company of the boy`s father, who was apprehended in Ontario following the abduction of the six-year-old boy. He did confirm the man was in the company of someone police believe is linked to the death of the boy's mother. Police also say the man was with the suspect in the abduction of the child in Rouyn-Noranda.
The boy vanished from St-Eustache, Que., on Thursday and his father was captured in Ontario nearly 24 hours later, following a car chase with police. By then, the body of the boy's mother had also been discovered in the family home.
According to police, the man being sought is believed to be in his 40s.
He is white, has blue eyes and short brown hair with a collar-length matching beard. He is described as about five-feet-six and roughly 220 pounds.
Anyone with information on the witness is asked to contact investigators at 1-800-659-4264.
