Former Hab P.K. Subban will take to centre ice as the featured subject of a new HBO Canada documentary.
P.K. Subban Skate Past The Noise: The Off-Season promises an up-close look at the life of the Nashville Predators defenceman and "unparalleled access to his inner circle."
The film began following Subban after the end of last season.
"We started filming last game of the season, and throughout the summer," Subban told TSN 690's Mitch Melnick on Wednesday. "And obviously...a different turn of events happened throughout the summer, but this documentary...if you didn't know anything about me before, and even if you did know me before, I think you'll learn a lot about me after you watch this doc. It says a lot about who I am, and what I stand for, but it's just really educational for kids out there that want to know more about professional athletes, and what it takes, it's a great tool to have. Subban was traded on June 29 from the Canadiens to the Nashville Predators in exchange for another top-line defenceman Shea Weber — a trade which was — and for some, still is — deeply unpopular with Montreal fans.
The documentary will feature interviews with Subban, rap superstar Snoop Dogg, and former Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson, who is the hockey star's speed and agility coach.
The film will air in French on Nov. 16 on Canal D and RDS and in English on Friday, Nov. 18 on HBO Canada.
