Frustration over pension reform and stalled contract negotiations has boiled over in Laval.
The Laval police union has presented a petition to the Mayor calling for Chief Pierre Brochet to resign.
81% of 560 unionized police officers had signed the document.
The Journal de Montreal says the union blames Brochet for reducing police services and breaking a bond of trust.
In a statement to the newspaper Mayor Marc Demers says he has full confidence in Brochet and dismisses the petition as a tactic in contract talks.
The two sides are currently in arbitration
