If you're considering getting your winter tires taken off this week, don't. Tuesday will be a snowy day in Montreal.
There are actually two storm systems bearing down on southwestern Quebec — one coming up from the Great Lakes, and the other coming up from the Atlantic Ocean.
Environment Canada's senior climatologist David Phillips says those two systems will bring Montreal anywhere but 15 to 25 centimetres of snow — accompanied by gusty northwest winds.
"Certainly winds that could blow from 40 to 60 kilometres an hour in gusts at times will create blowing and drifting snow and whiteout conditions," Phillips says.
He suggests snowfall totals will be higher the further south and east you go. People in Sherbrooke, for instance, could see up to 50 centimetres by the time the storm subsides.
The storm is also expected to cause flight delays and cancellations, especially if you're going to places like New York or Boston.
The storm has already led to cancelled flights along the U.S. eastern seaboard, as well as places like Toronto and Chicago.
