Montrealers woke up to a blanket of wet heavy snow on Wednesday, less than a week before the start of spring.
With more than 10 centimetres of fresh snow on the ground it won't look like spring for some time to come.
With the thermometer hovering near the freezing mark, the early morning commute had motorists exercising caution while pedestrians walked warily on snow covered and often slushy sidewalks.
Bit of a slog on some side streets especially on the sidewalks. At least it's nice to look at. #CJAD pic.twitter.com/RA6tkRqV4L

All scheduled buses were on the roads, but the STM advised commuters that there could be some weather-related delays in service.
The weather system has since moved on to the Maritimes and as a result a number of flights to east coast destinations from Montreal were being delayed.
More information can be found at the Trudeau Airport website and the STM website.
