A quiet dead-end street at the western tip of LaSalle is in clean up mode this morning.
Residents were up early dealing with a fallen tree that caused extensive damage to at least three cars, and left a power line dangling dangerously low to the ground.
"I woke up at around 3am to the sound of chainsaws," said Joe, a resident of Highlands Ave. "I went out and they were cutting a tree that had fallen on my car."
The back windshield of his Acura was smashed by one of the falling branches.
A wood chipper arrived at around 7:30am to clear away what the chainsaw crew had left behind. That woke up anybody who had slept through the early morning bustle.
Downed tree branches litter a number of streets in the LaSalle neighbourhood, blocking sidewalks and driveways.
Garbage cans and Halloween decorations were blown out of place, as well.
