If you live in or drive around Lachine, take note: as of the beginning of December, the speed limit on all residential streets is going down to 30 km/h.
"A lot of people are telling us, Mr Dauphin, motorists are driving too fast," borough mayor Claude Dauphin told CJAD 800 News, which is why the borough initiated the plan to make the speed limit reduction back in February.
Major arteries like those through the Technoparc will remain at current speeds, he added.
One of the streets that will not see a speed reduction is 32nd Ave. Just west of where it intersects with Provost St., 71-year-old Lino Cierzo was struck by a car as he crossed the street in front of his home. He later died in hospital of his injuries.
