A fire in an apartment building in Lachine Tuesday left eight families homeless just as the blizzard made its way to Montreal.
The flames broke out inside the 24-unit building on Louis-Paré St at about 6:00 P.M. A second alarm was called not long after and about 60 firefighters were at the scene for more than two hours.
The blaze caused extensive damage to the building, no one was hurt.
About 30 people were relocated by the Red Cross.
Because the cause of the fire could not be determined the Montreal police arson squad have taken over the investigation.
