A massive explosion rocked a residential neighbourhood in Kitchener, Ontario a bit after 8:00am Wednesday. The blast completely obliterated one family home and left three others badly damaged, according to police spokesperson Cherri Greeno.
Kitchener Fire Chief, Jon Rehill, told CTV Toronto that his crews are actively fighting fires at three nearby homes — all related to the explosion.
Police confirm that one woman was killed and one man was airlifted to hospital in critical condition.
Firefighters remain on the scene and say it's too early to determine what exactly caused the incident.
Photos police tweeted from the scene show heavy smoke filling the air on a tree-lined street.
