The case of a West Island man accused of shooting his five-year-old son and 69-year-old father-in-law has been postponed for another week.
The accused faces six charges including attempted murder of his two boys and aggravated assault on his father-in-law in Kirkland last November.
The 36-year-old Dollard-des-Ormeaux resident can't be named to protect the identity of the children.
His lawyer told the court they needed more time to determine where they are in the case and how to move things along.
They are seeking a counter expertise since the crown requested a psychiatric evaluation to determine if the accused was criminally responsible for his actions.
The accused remains detained at the Pinel Psychiatric Institute.
"He has the support of his family. He has everybody supporting him and he's working through various issues," said defence attorney Alexandre Bien-Aimé.
The accused was not in court and was not required to be there.
