Some Kahnawake residents gathered on route 132 on Tuesday morning in solidarity with the anti-pipeline protesters at the Standing Rock Sioux reservation in North Dakota.
The protest was spearheaded by students and staff at the Kahnawake Survival School.
About 100 of them began gathering on the side of the road at around 10:30 a.m. — and blocked the highway for a couple of minutes.
Some of them bore the flag of the Mohawk Warrior Society. Others held signs saying "Water is Life," and "No Oil."
The anti-pipeline protest has been going on since April.
