The head of Just for Laughs, Gilbert Rozon, has stepped down from his job after allegations of misconduct.
On Facebook, Rozon issued a statement, saying he was shaken by the accusations and would be stepping down from all his functions, including Montreal's 375th anniversary celebrations and as vice-president of the Montreal Metropolitan Board of Trade.
Le Devoir is reporting that nine women, including some prominent Quebec personalities, have come forward with accusations of sexual assault or harassment.
The 62 year old made the announcement after he was called out on social media by a Quebec comedian who described him as an aggressor.
In a Facebook post, Guillaume Wagner said he had worked for Rozon and had heard rumours about inappropriate behavior.
Wagner said he wouldn't work for Just for Laughs anymore.
Rozon has not responded to CJAD 800's request for an interview.
Mayor Denis Coderre issued a statement in the wake of the troubling allegations.
