After 39 days, tens of thousands of kilometers driven by campaign buses, and a whole lot of mudslinging, it is now time to have your voice heard.
Quebec's 42nd general election is upon us.
If you need a last minute reminder, or you're still not sure who you want to vote for, you can take a look at all the promises that were made over the course of the extended campaign here.
Polls will open at 9:30 A.M., close at 8:00 P.M. and not long after we'll have a better picture of what the next provincial government will look like.
In order to vote, you must have one of the following pieces of identification in hand:
Quebec driver's licence
Quebec health insurance card
Canadian passport
Certificate of Indian Status
Canadian Armed Forces identity card
If you don't happen to have the proper ID with you the election officers will send you to the identity verification panel.
In order to speed up the process and make things easier for everyone, Elections Quebec suggests bringing the voter reminder card you received in the mail with you when you go vote. Officials say it will allow elections officers to direct you to the proper station quicker.
Once at your polling station, the voting process is simple (via Elections Quebec):
1. Present the government ID mentioned above and take get your ballot paper from an elections officer.
2. Go behind the polling booth.
3. Using the pencil provided to you, mark your ballot in just one circle. *Any mark that clearly identifies your choice is accepted.*
4. Fold your ballot paper and return to the table.
5. Tear off the ballot paper stub along the dotted line and hand it to the polling officers.
6. Place your ballot paper in the ballot box.
After that, you're done!
You'll be able to sit back, relax and wait for the results to come in.
CJAD800 will have special election night coverage starting at 7:00 P.M.
