Montreal's Irish community has decided to take a unified approach to all of the events that make March such a fun - and green - month in this city.
Appearances by the queen and her court, the Irishman of the Year breakfast and the Saint Patrick's Day parade will now fall under the umbrella of a new Irish Festival.
"We're putting under an umbrella this year to make it easier for Montrealers to access all the events and the concept of March as the Irish Festival Month," says Scott Phalen, the president of the St Patrick's Society.
He says while the Irish community has been working together for decades, the new approach will make the month even better.
"A fun way to get rid of winter and usher in the spring and Saint Patrick's Day, obviously," he says.
