Cristine Lebrasseur was at the Pierrefonds-Roxboro train station a week ago when she heard the train sound its horn, its brakes squealing. When she heard someone was hit by the train, she took off - and headed towards the victim.
"It was a reflex," said the Ste Justine Hospital respiratory therapist.
Police say the girl was wearing headphones and crossing the tracks from one platform to another and didn't see or hear the oncoming train.
The teen ended up being dragged about 50 feet and was rushed to hospital suffering multiple injuries, including to her head.
She had been in critical condition through the night following the incident but her condition had stabilized.
Lebrasseur told CJAD 800 News she was expecting the worst. She said the 17-year-old was not trapped under anything but was lying on her side, semi-conscious.
Lebrasseur said she's worked in emergency room stituations but nothing like this.
Lebrasseur said she kept talking to the youth to comfort her and to get her to keep breathing.
" I told her help was coming, that she wasn't alone and that I'd stay with her until help came," said Lebrasseur.
Lebrasseur said the teen was moaning and half responsive but didn't say anything. Lebrasseur said there wasn't any blood but she could see the girl's leg was injured.
Lebrasseur said she has only heard how the teen was doing through the news and hopes to hear more news that she is recovering well.
